I’ve been warned about using the sleep mode, as it’s unreliable and can sometimes get your laptop stuck in a SLEEP mode, not being able to wake up with the usual lid opening or power button press.
Today I stupidly put my LENOVO Z50 to sleep as I needed to USB charge some gadget. After a while the laptop would not wake up. Long pressing the power button wouldn’t help.
Luckily I’ve been able to find this method that worked miraculously, here are the steps:
- Disconnect the laptop charger and remove the laptop battery
- Wait a few minutes
- Long press the power button, about 20 seconds
- Connect the charger and battery
- Long press the power button
As I mentioned, my laptop woke up during step 5. Let me know if it worked for you.
To sum it up, SLEEP mode is a gamble, simple web search reveals that there are lots of issues with it. I strongly advise to use HYBERNATION mode which is stable and reliable.
