Countries I’ve Visitied

June 22nd, 2025 · No Comments

I love going to new places and new countries. From past experience, I rather rent a car and drive to the country side, for me, that’s when the fun begins. I’m not that hard to satisfy, just give me lots of nature and I’m happy. Here are the countries I’ve visited, in chronical order. Some I visited more than once. Have you visited one of them? Feel free to drop a comment.

U.S.A

My parents had an affair with the USA so as a kid and teenagers I was there at least 5 times. As an adult I’ve there a few more times, and enjoyed the country side more than Manhattan for ex. Last visit was to the east side of USA, with a route going from NY to Massachusetts. We also stayed in Ovid, a small town in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. It’s located between Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake, in Seneca County. Ovid is known for its scenic views, proximity to wineries, and a quaint historic downtown area. I also enjoyed mount Washington in New Hampshire, Boston city in Massachusetts and more.

Canada

Well I actually didn’t spend much time in Canada, but I did visit the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls. What have I missed? Let me know.

Italy

My visit to Italy wasn’t planed at first, I just wanted to visit the DUCATI motorcycle factory in Bologna. I did visit the factory and then I took a train to Rome, where I stayed a few days. Back in those days I used to experiment with my camera (real film, not digital), black and white as well, in the photo, an Italian living statue, in Rome.

France

Photo: Garden of the Hospital in Arles , the one that Van Gogh painted.
I’ve been to France twice, one on my own and later in life with my wife, Paris was fun to be in, at the time I was there the first time, I just hung out with musicians and visited a friend. I enjoyed the vibe, the city big attractions and little things like markets. I was in Niss ass well, but enjoyed france when me and my wife headed to the country side.

Jordan

I started the trip in AKABA the south city, headed a bit north to Dana village and ended the trip in Amman the capital. One of the most famous places to eat hummus in Amman is Hashem Restaurant, located in the heart of downtown. Known for its simple setting and consistently excellent food, Hashem has become a legendary spot in Jordan. It’s especially famous for its hummus, falafel, and fava bean, all served fresh with mint tea. Over the years, it has attracted locals, tourists, and even royalty—there are well-known stories that King Abdullah II himself has dined there, sometimes without prior notice. Despite its humble appearance, Hashem remains a beloved institution and a must-visit for anyone wanting a true taste of Jordanian street food culture. And yes, I’ve visited Petra, it was quite amazing.

Turkey

Turkey is a huge country, it has great food, great deserts, very esthetic shops. Istanbul is a busy city, for sightseeing, shopping, too busy for my liking and you’re the same head out for the country side. I have been to Fethiye, a stunning coastal town in southwestern Turkey, located in the Muğla Province, along the Turkish Riviera (also known as the Turquoise Coast). It’s known for its natural beauty, crystal-clear waters, ancient ruins, and relaxed vibe.

Germany

The Trachten- und Schützenzug, the Traditional Costume and Riflemen’s Parade, which takes place during Oktoberfest in Munich. It’s held on the first Sunday of Oktoberfest, and it’s one of the highlights of the festival. Thousands of participants—many in traditional Bavarian, regional German, or even international folk costumes—march through the city accompanied by music bands, historic riflemen, and horse-drawn carriages.

Ireland

I visited Ireland quite a few years ago, I was at a conference in Killarney town, we continued our trip by driving to the Mohar cliffs, on the way we stopped at the Doolin Cave, which is famous for having one of the longest free-hanging stalactites in the world, so deep, it has an elevator that takes visitors down inside. It’s a popular stop on the way toward the Cliffs of Moher from Killarney.
We slept in Vaughan Lodge Hotel (great!!!), Lahinch, a tiny town or so it felt. I took the car at night, looking for a nice place to drink a beer, found a few nice places. What I remember most from Ireland is how lovely and green the country is. In the photo, me and my son are horse riding, a few k”m from Killarney. The horses names were Goldie and Rosey.

U.K.

I must say that with all the hype from London, it was too busy for me, too crowded, all the classic attractions were accompanied by long queues, Madam Tuso museum felt like a kindergarten, the Queen’s palace was packed full and so were other famous places. But as soon as we took the rented car to the country side that’s where the fun began, we visited Canterbury (Little did I know that a few of my favorite bands I discovered later in life, formed there), Bath, Stonehenge and more..

Denmark

What can I say, I really fell in love with Denmark, the weather was chill (July), the country is wide and big, very clean and neat, everything seems to be organized, even forests. People are super friendly, transportation is a delight, not a single traffic jam in all the 1500 km we traveled, lots of bicycles and bicycle lanes, even on remote country sides. We stayed at several towns, started in Copenhagen and then toured the country. The wave buildings are in Vejle, and if you’re there, you must visit the nearby deer park (Search “Deer Park Vejle Dyrehaven“), 5 minute drive from there. We also enjoyed Dragor, a small shore town, we ate at Dragor Cafe, which is really a restaurant, a great place to fine dine, with a breathtaking view to the ocean. Also worth a visit is the Tivoli Gardens, a famous amusement park in Copenhagen. It’s one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, opened in 1843, and it’s located right in the city center, near the Central Station. Fun even for a cynical person like me… Also worth a visit is the Experimentarium which is an interactive science center for kids and family with hands-on exhibits on physics, the human body, energy, sound, light, and more.

Greece

Greece is like a big calm machine, the moment I set foot on it, things go in a different pace. The first thing I noticed about Athens are the graffiti, it’s almost everywhere, some is really impressive work. After Athens we headed for Pelion (Greek: Πήλιο), a beautiful mountainous region in central Greece, located in the Magnesia regional unit of Thessaly. It’s famous for combining lush green mountains with stunning coastline along the Aegean Sea. What I liked about Greece is its simplicity, slow pace and one of the best cuisines imo.
When I was much younger I visited the Islands: Mikonos, Santorini and Koss.

So what’s my next destination? I have tickets to Austria (Yaaaayyyyyy), will be flying there shorty, I will update.

Still, the world is wide and I haven’t been to many places that I am curious about: Japan, India, Romania, Netherlands, Nepal, Iceland, South America, African countries… I hope to catch things up and fill my passport soon…
