The Albertina is a museum located in the first and oldest district of Vienna, Austria. It houses one of the largest and most important print rooms in the world with numerous drawings and old master prints, as well as more modern graphic works, photographs and architectural drawings. The museum has also acquired, on permanent loan, two significant collections of Impressionist and early 20th-century art, some of which are on permanent display. The museum also houses temporary exhibitions. I visited the Albertina Museum in Aug 2025. I found a breathtaking collection of famous artists, some from my favorite era – the expressionism.

An anecdote about Rene Magritte: Paul Simon once said that the inspiration to his iconic song “Sound Of Silence” came to him while seating in the bathroom of his parents house in Queens. Consistently with everyday earthly things and places that inspire him, Simon wrote another iconic song (for me at least) “Rene and Georgette Magritte with Their Dog after the War”, after seeing a black & while photograph by Lothar Wolleh, of the Magritte couple and their dog, standing next to an airplane. The video clip for this songs depicts the couple in a surreal way, just like Magritte’s paintings, while they walk, fly in space while sleeping and more. The song is from his album “Hearts and Bones”, which I warmly recommend.
